Emily Hanselman has been named as a finalist for the Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition, an award competition of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) which recognizes the highest quality research presented by students and young investigators at NUTRITION 2024.
Hanselman is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and studies sensory science and nutrition.
“I am thankful for the excellent training that I have received from my advisor, Dr. Paul Breslin, and the Nutritional Sciences faculty at Rutgers. It was a great experience to work on this project with a previous graduate from our program, Dr. Matthew Kochem,” said Hanselman. “I look forward to sharing our results on how sweet taste receptors affect glucose tolerance and am excited to see all the exciting new research at the ASN conference this year!”
Nearly 900 abstracts were submitted by students and postdoctoral fellows. The Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition aims to recognize the top 10% highest scoring abstracts. Abstracts were rated by more than 400 nutrition scientists.
Finalists will compete in a poster competition and be recognized for their achievement during NUTRITION 2024, the American Society for Nutrition’s annual flagship meeting which will be held from June 29 to July 2 at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL.
Emily’s abstract for NUTRITION 2024 is titled, “Sweet Taste Receptors As Metabolic Regulators: TAS1R2-TAS1R3 Activation or Inhibition Differentially Affects Glucose Metabolism in Humans.”
“Through this program, the American Society for Nutrition celebrates the achievements of our rising stars,” stated Kevin Schalinske, PhD, President, American Society for Nutrition. “The Society looks forward to watching their future contributions to advance our understanding of nutrition science and practice, as well as their engagement with our society.”
