Researchers at Rutgers Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences helped to deploy a fleet of gliders that will navigate the Eastern Seaboard as part of a collaborative ocean survey coordinated by American and Canadian government agencies and research teams. A total of 15 gliders will journey from Nova Scotia to Georgia in a monthlong underwater mission to capture the most complete picture yet of the Atlantic’s many mysterious underwater movements and obtain a better understanding of what fuels the intensity of storms.
