I am very excited to announce that Janice McDonnell will serve as the SEBS/NJAES Associate Dean of Research Impact, effective July 1, 2025.
The Associate Dean of Research Impact is a new position in the SEBS Office of Research responsible for building and supporting the capacity of our SEBS/NJAES community of researchers to maximize their research impact. In this role, Janice will connect the people, ideas, and tools that drive discovery across SEBS and NJAES with communities throughout New Jersey and beyond to advance scientific innovation, communication, and engagement. Working with our research office she will collaborate with faculty and staff to build capacity, enable community engaged co-creation of research, and increase the communication of our research impact to public audiences across the state.
Janice is currently serving as the STEM Agent for the Department of 4-H Youth Development where she supports county 4-H Agents in promoting STEM in their communities. She hosts a variety of on-campus programs designed to engage young people in Rutgers University science and engineering programs. In addition, Janice has decades of experience working with faculty to develop innovative and effective broader impact programs in accordance with various funding agency criteria. She is a national leader working with research communities across the country on multiple aspects of research impact. I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from Janice for more than 25 years. Her leadership, vision, and experience in advancing and expanding research impact to a wide range of communities will empower our research community to maximize the reach and impact of our work.
Please join me in welcoming Janice to this new role!
