The Student Ambassadors for the New Jersey Institute of Food, Nutrition, and Health (IFNH) take on an interdisciplinary approach to the fields of nutrition, health, and food. Every year the IFNH Student Ambassadors create a display case in the IFNH building to highlight the IFNH as a whole and describe their role in the institute. The display case is located on the ground floor of the building, across from the Center for Lipid Research.
The theme of this year’s display case in the IFNH is “Student Ambassadors Complete the Puzzle of the IFNH.” The Student Ambassadors created this concept as it reflects the interdisciplinary work of the IFNH by revealing how each individual center and program in the building comes together to form a complete puzzle. Each center and program in the IFNH is represented by a large puzzle piece in the center of the case. There are smaller puzzle pieces surrounding the large puzzle in the center, each piece representing one of the current Student Ambassadors. This visual representation displays how the Student Ambassadors are the missing pieces of puzzle and when they are joined with the centers and programs of the IFNH they together form an entire puzzle.
The success of the Institute relies on an integrative program that has each entity work together to serve as a model for change and success at the state, national, and global levels. The Student Ambassadors encompassed these characteristics of the IFNH in this year’s display case by expressing the IFNH’s purpose of working together to conduct an interdisciplinary approach in the fields of food, nutrition, and health.
