Malin Pinsky
Malin Pinsky, an assistant professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, was awarded a $50,000 Sloan Foundation fellowship. Pinsky is one of two Rutgers assistant professors and among 126 recipients of Sloan Foundation fellowships awarded to early career scientists and scholars who do research in eight scientific and technical fields, including ocean sciences. Pinsky is also affiliated with the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences and is studying how changing climates affect coastal marine species and how that, in turn, affects human society.
“An award like this is a wonderful gift to someone early in their career like me,” said Pinsky. “It comes with essentially no strings attached, so it gives me the freedom to explore riskier research ideas outside what a traditional funding agency is likely to support,” he added.
