Barbara Turpin, distinguished professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences, has been named a 2013 Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. Turpin, who is also Campus Dean for Undergraduate Education for the George H. Cook Campus, joins 61 other colleagues who are members of the union to be so honored for their “exceptional scientific contributions and attained acknowledged eminence in the fields of Earth and space science.” An air quality specialist, Turpin’s research focuses on improving the understanding of atmospheric chemistry and exposure science in order to develop effective air pollution control strategies to protect public health and the environment.
