The Rutgers Cooperative Extension Organic Land Care program has recently gotten underway and is building momentum fast. The first Organic Land Care Certificate Program was offered in January for professional landscapers. This educational program focuses on organic practices for promoting healthy soil, enhancing biodiversity and reducing polluted runoff from managed landscapes. Workshops for homeowners have also been delivered to help New Jersey residents learn and adopt sustainable, environmentally-friendly land care techniques on their home landscapes. The program has now launched an Organic Land Care website, where professional landscapers can find course information and homeowners can learn about organic practices or find a listing of professionals that have completed the certificate program. Visit the new website at njaes.rutgers.edu/organiclandcare.
