Announcement from Laura Lawson, Interim Executive Dean, SEBS, and Interim Executive Director, NJAES.
June 15, 2022
Dear SEBS and NJAES community,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Zenash Tassew to the position of Director of Finance and Business Administration for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, effective April 30, 2022. Zenash had been serving as Associate Director of Finance and Business Administration prior to this appointment.
Zenash joined Rutgers in 2001 and worked in several different capacities in the Office of the University Controller for eleven years, before joining the SEBS/NJAES Business Office in 2012. Since coming to the Cook campus, she has advanced through progressively more responsible positions from Accounting Specialist to Senior Accounting Supervisor and, since 2018, as Associate Director.
A Rutgers alumna, Zenash graduated with a B.A. in Finance from Rutgers University Business School in Newark, NJ.
In her new role, Zenash will be responsible for over $200M in financial activities and will lead SEBS/NJAES financial staff, interpreting and enforcing policies, and structuring their implementation. In addition, Zenash will ensure the financial team has the tools needed to effectively support the SEBS/NJAES research community.
Zenash tells me her favorite food is dessert, particularly dark chocolate, and she believes food is the best way to connect with people.
Please join me in welcoming Zenash to this new role.
