Rutgers Turfgrass Breeding Program has been working to develop pest and stress tolerant grasses, not only for high-profile venues such as the Rose Bowl or championship golf courses, but for your own yard. The program has been able to reduce the impact that grasses have on the environment by reducing fertilizer requirements, mowing and water and pesticide use. LiveBIG (the Big 10 Network) has produced a video that profiles this breeding program.
