Rutgers hosts the 10th annual free Halloween Monster Mash on October 25, from 6-9 p.m. at the Cook/Douglass Recreation Center Gymnasium at 50 Biel Road, New Brunswick. Sponsored by Rutgers University Residence Life, the Halloween Monster Mash is a community outreach event that provides an alternative trick-or-treat experience to elementary school children in the surrounding communities of New Brunswick and Piscataway.
Various student organizations at Rutgers will set up activity tables for the young visitors and reward their efforts with treats. Activities include pumpkin painting, crafts, a costume contest and relay races. Last year, over 1,100 people participated but this year’s event is anticipated to be the largest yet, with activities happening in the gymnasium and racquetball courts, as well as a large activity tent outside to accommodate the increased number of kids and families. According to Residence Life staff, this popular and growing annual event will feature special surprises to mark its 10th anniversary.
Community members are asked to note that parking will be in lot 98 B on College Farm Road, with shuttle transportation to the C/D Recreation Center. Visiting families should look for the large tent next to the Recreation Center as well.
