Middlesex County students entering grades 5 through 8 are invited to attend a summer day program, “Eco-Adventures at the EARTH Center,” scheduled for August 26-30. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, South Brunswick, home of the county’s Rutgers Cooperative Extension office.
The program focuses on environmental stewardship and will have a different theme for each day, including “Resource Conservation” or “Addressing Climate Change.” Most days will begin with a team-building exercise to help students get acquainted. Hands-on activities will explore topics like ecology, water conservation, alternative energy, earth-friendly gardening and climate change.
A mid-week field trip is scheduled and at the end of the week, students will write and produce video public service announcements related to conservation of the environment.
The registration fee of $110 includes program materials, a peanut-free snack, beverages, and a parting gift. Attendees are expected to bring their own brown bag lunch. Arrangements can be made for kids with special needs. The registration deadline for “Eco-Adventures at the EARTH Center” is August 1.
