The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program announced the winners of its 2013 4-H Equestrian of the Year Contest held on March 5 at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Office in Cape May Court House, NJ.
The 2013 Senior Equestrian of the Year title went to Victoria Speece, an active member of the Shore Blazers 4-H Club, 4-H Horse Science Team, 4-H Teen Ambassadors, Junior 4-H Horse Council, and the Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team. Margaret Barry, the First Runner in this category, participates in the Barnyard Buddies 4-H Club, 4-H Teen Ambassadors, Junior 4-H Horse Council and the Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team.
Abby Thompson, winner of the 2013 Junior Equestrian of the Year title, followed in the footsteps of her sister Rebecca, last year’s junior winner. Thompson is a member of the Barnyard Buddies Club and the Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team. This year’s title bearers will represent 4-H at events around the county and state, as well as the 2013 Cape May County 4-H Fair scheduled for July 18–20 at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Cape May Court House, NJ.
