Kate Washart, 19, of Seaville, competed recently at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup Contest in Louisville, KY. Washart earned seventh place nationally in the Individual Presentation Phase of the Competition, while the New Jersey 4-H Presentations Team scored eighth place overall.
Washart is now studying biology and chemistry at Washington College in Chestertown, MD. Of her experience in 4-H, she says, “4-H taught me to be a good public speaker and to have the confidence to present myself in front of a large group. As a 4-H member I got to travel all over the country and learn so much! I am very grateful for my years in 4-H and for all the friends I made!”
