Experience L.G. Cook 4-H Camp Live Via Minecraft
The Morris County 4-H Minecraft Club members are building again! After the success of the Morris County 4-H Minecraft Fair, the members decided to do something special for National 4-H Week in October. Club members spent the rest of their summer break recreating the beloved L.G. Cook 4-H Camp in the Minecraft world.
Just a few final touches are left before the Minecraft 4-H Camp goes live to the public in celebration of National 4-H Week which runs from October 4-10. Morris County 4-H invites “campers” of all ages to explore this virtual world, discover what makes L.G. Cook 4-H Camp so popular, and enjoy the live games and activities. The Summer Camp day will be on Friday, October 9 from 7-9pm and the Winter Camp Day on Saturday, October 10 also 7-9pm.

“L.G. Cook 4-H Camp holds a special place in many people’s hearts across the state,” said Kelly Dziak, Morris County 4-H program associate. “This project provides a virtual space for 4-H campers and alumni to reconnect with camp friends and memories, all from the comfort of their homes.”
4-H Minecraft Club leader, Celia Longendyck, was delighted to support the youth members in their second build project. “Their version of the Morris County 4-H Fair was so detailed, immersive, and creative. I was just as excited as the kids to see what they could create for 4-H camp.”
“My son wanted to visit the 4-H camp since he had never been there,” said Nancy Doherty, mother of a 4-H Minecraft Club member. “It was such a nice experience to see him so interested, take pictures and take notes to share at his next club meeting. The members have put in the extra effort to recreate the campgrounds as accurately as possible.”
“We want to share the summer camp experience with as many kids (and adults) as possible – since they all missed out on that experience this year,” said 4-H Minecraft Club member and server manager David Longendyck.
“What a wonderful opportunity,” said Morris County 4-H volunteer Susan Akers. “I get to see the amazing creativity of our young people and experience how well they work together reaching their goal.”
Celia Londendyck reports that new club members have joined since the Morris County 4-H Minecraft Fair event in July. This fall, the club will once again accept new members for their next build adventure.
