The convocation for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences was held May 14 at the Rutgers Athletic Center where Master of Ceremonies Rick Ludescher (dean of academic programs) welcomed close to 700 students to their graduation exercises.
Two students – who have earned all A’s during their four years at the school — shared the honor as graduating first in their class: Arwa Abbas (Biotechnology) and Jennifer Komaiko (Food Science with a minor in Chemistry). A record 35 students graduated summa cum laude, with a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.
Donn Derr (Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics) was recognized as the 2012 Dr. Barbara Munson Goff Teacher of the Year! Derr, who has taught at Rutgers for 44 years, will retire in December. The 2012 Class representative Zaid Abuhouran (Public Health) delivered a rousing message to his fellow classmates. Congratulations Class of 2012!
