The George H. Cook Campus was buzzing with activity as the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) hosted its third annual “Bring Your Child to Work Day” on April 24, as participants enjoyed a variety of fun and educational activities designed for all ages. This special event began in 2023 in an effort to build stronger connections among faculty and staff.

In addition to all the engaging activities planned by departments and units across SEBS, a first-time screening of the movie, Brother Bear, followed the popular the Ice Cream Demonstration by the Department of Food Science.
A wide range of activities offered this year by departments and units across SEBS ensured a memorable day for parents and children alike on the George H. Cook campus.
“Power Up with Protein: Nutritious & Delicious No-Bake Chocolate Truffle Fun!
The Department of Nutritional Sciences hosted visitors in their brand-new, state-of-the-art Teaching Kitchen. Organizers planned an engaging lesson on the role of protein in keeping our bodies strong and energized. After the lesson, kids created their own delicious, no-bake chocolate truffles, proving that healthy eating can be fun and tasty!
Greenhouse Tours
Participants explored the magic of plants, viewing all sorts of cool plants and flowers. They learned the growth habits of the plants, their unique characteristics! It was like stepping into a real-life garden adventure.
Drawing the Land Around Us
Ready to be an artist? Participants met outside Blake Hall and were engaged in creative activities with Alexis, our awesome Landscape Architect. She helped participants draw pictures of the pond and taught them how landscape architects design the land to make places look super cool.
4-H Lawn Games
Parents and children enjoyed fun outdoor games with our 4-H team! They eagerly joined in a variety of lawn games, that proved it’s all about fun, teamwork, and getting a little silly in the sunshine!
Equine Science Center Tours
Giddy up and get ready for an exciting adventure at the Equine Science Center! Participants Met some friendly horses and learned all about how our students and staff take care of them. From brushing to feeding, they got a sneak peek into the life of these amazing animals!
