The Science of Soil 4-H Youth Summit will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Rutgers University. Students in grades 6-8 from public and private schools as well as informal science education programs (i.e., 4-H, homeschool groups) from throughout New Jersey are invited to work with the NJ Association of Conservation Districts, the NJ Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Districts, USDA/ Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Rutgers University scientists to learn about soil science and to develop community service projects that apply their knowledge in their local communities…Soil is the foundation for life. It helps maintain a balance among people, nature, and land use. Soil acts as a filter to protect water and air quality, and supports growth of plants and animals. Bring students to Rutgers University to learn more about the important of soils, while addressing NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards.
